Chapter 3
"If you don't want to die...right here, right now... You'll do what I'll say..." The words washed over Dara like ice-cold water. She couldn't move a muscle because of fear.
"Don't do anything that would attract attention... don't even try to scream or else my little best friend here will gladly pass through you..." nudging dara a bit with the gun. "Now... walk slowly..."
She knew that she should do whatever this crazy man asks of her but there's this feeling, this stubborn feeling that wanted her to oppose him. Instead of walking forward, doing what the man told her, Dara stubbornly said under her breath, "Then shoot me... I don't care..."
"You little..."
But right then, CL emerged from the building and now Dara feared for her friend's life than her. "Dara-Unnie..." she paused seeing Dara with a man... /Wait...with a man? And he's standing too close.../ When she looked at her Unnie's wide fearful eyes gazing at her, a thought struck her... /Could it be???/
The man near Dara suddenly realized that Dara has stiffened again and looked at her and followed where her eyes are staring, fearful for whoever it is.
"Stay right there or I'll shoot your friend without second thoughts..."
"You'll put your gun down and leave if you know what's good for you." /Who's that?/ Dara couldn't see it for the man is standing right behind the culprit pointing a gun at her.
"Oppa!" CL cried.
"Don't move, Chaerin-ah." /His voice... It sounds familiar./ "Now. You..." the guy said menacingly, "Put your gun down." he did as he was told but he still has his iron grip on dara's left arm. "Let go of her." She felt him loosened his grip on her little by little and finally let go of her. Dara ran towards CL and the younger girl hugged her.
"Chaerin... go inside." she nodded. Dara was about to turn and look at her savior but CL already ushered her in, pushing her, frantically asking if the psycho did something to her.
"I am fine CL-roo."/That's a lie./ her thought taunted her.
"Dara-unnie, you're trembling."
"I am fine." more like convincing herself that she's really fine. "Wait... CL-roo. the guy... He might kill the..."
"Don't worry Unnie. He'll be okay." /I wanted to believe her but my heart continued to fear for him. He's my saviour. I will feel extremely guilty if something happens to him because of me./ "Unnie..." CL forced me to look at her. "Unnie..." shaking Dara a bit. "Unnie, he's going to be fine. Don't worry about it."
"Why are you so sure?!" /Wait... Did I just shout at CL-roo?! What's happening to me?/ "I am sorry. I don't know what's happening to me. I- I... that guy... he helped me... his voice... I heard it before..." Dara continued ranting incoherently.
"Are you okay?" The girls whirled to see a guy, wearing a black hoodie and shades. Dara nodded shyly. /Why's my heart beating so fast? Am I having a heart failure again?/ Then suddenly, he hugged her.
Crushed in the man's embrace, Dara felt safe and secured. /This is weird/ she thought. "Seriously, you little punk," His smooth soothing voice scolding her yet somehow his words comforted her. "Then shoot me... I don't care..." He mimicked my little exhibition of bravery. Then it struck her.../He's the Tuna sandwich cab driver.../ “You could have just said ‘Kill me… For all I care…”
"Oppa..." the mysterious guy pushed me away from him and murmured an apology. He walked towards CL and whispered something to her. CL nodded. And just like that, he went out without a second glance at me. /What the... What was that?!/
"CL... Who..."
"Come on Dara-unnie. You're father called and he said that he'll be here to pick you up." Dara tried everything to make CL tell her who the guy is but she wouldn't budge.
"How come you call him Oppa?! If you don't know him why did you.."
"Unnie, I just call him Oppa because he's older than me..."
"Really… How did he know that your name is Chaerin, then?" Dara asked, feeling triumphant./ Ha! Answer that!/
"May-- maybe-- maybe he knew because he read articles about me." She answered. "Yeah. That's right. You know we are quite famous Dara. You're not just a common individual in Korea. You are Yeosin's number one Goddess. And I, not to sound haughty, am famous internationally. He might have read an article about me. Yeah. Yeah. Could be..."
Dara was about to ask another question again when the door of their dressing room opened.
"Dara-ah," In-su walked inside and bestowing a kiss on his daughter's temple. CL heaved a relived sigh. "Are you okay?" When Dara nodded, he turned towards CL. "Thank you so much for telling me about this."
"It's okay, uncle." He gave her a fatherly smile.
"We'll go ahead."
~o~
"Yah! Oppa!" Cl practically yelled at the phone she's holding. "Minji told me about what happened. You know that it's very risky. She had been asking me questions about you. I still don't know why we're keeping this to her, she surely won't forgive us if she finds out... And you had the guts to show your--"
"Chaerin...Chaerin..." but still the girl continued scolding him. "Yah! Chaerin-ah! What do you want me to do? Let that guy take Sandara? I can't just stand there and look at how she's dragged and be used against me."
There was no answer. "CL... Are you still there?"
"Ne, but I want to know everything. I have only been away for three months and everything is in full blast chaos. I don't even know what's true and what's not. I am always like threading in safe waters every time I talk to her. It's so hard."
"We have to do this, CL-roo," he said, using Dara's pet name for the girl. "I have to make sure that he gets what he deserves. Dara's father won't even let me near her."
"You know that it's dangerous. He's doing this because he's worried about her."
"I know. That's why I can't be mad at them. But I can't help it CL, I can't stop myself from worrying about her."
"Then do your best to find where that psycho is hiding. After that, you can be sure to have a happy ending with her by your side."
~o~
"Hello?" In-su was facing the glass window of his study room. "You're in Seoul now? Where will I send my driver to pick you up?" He wrote down something on his notepad, possibly the location the other person on the line tells him. "Okay. Wait there. The car will arrive in fifteen minutes."
